Data sources and methodology
1. Sources and attribution
Registration data comes from registers and approved-product lists published by national pesticide authorities; customs data comes from national import-export filings. All data is collected through lawful channels and contains no non-public sources.
Every record carries its source country and collection timestamp, and exported files repeat this information in the footer so traceability survives internal circulation.
2. Processing stages
After collection, data passes through four stages before entering the database: parsing, cleaning, entity normalisation (ingredient names and CAS numbers, holder entities), and quality scoring. Each stage is logged and reviewable.
3. Quality tiers
There are four tiers: deep coverage (field-level structured, ready for analysis and export), usable (core fields complete), in processing (collected but still being cleaned, not open for querying), and planned (source confirmed, on the roadmap).
4. The in-processing rule
Countries marked in processing never appear in any query, statistic, export or map aggregation - a hard rule independent of user tier. They flip to a live tier automatically once they pass quality gates, at no extra charge.
5. Redistribution limits
For data that the source country's law restricts from redistribution, the Platform offers on-site query only and automatically removes it from exports; you may not obtain and redistribute such data by any means.
